About Evolution Gamer  E-mail

Evolution Gamer was conceived after an overheard conversation (See Producer's Blog entry "Gamer" Theory ).

In 2006, that idea spawned a Seattle-based Media Company. Our goal was to bring video game information to the mainstream in an easy-to-understand and entertaining manner.

Here are the weekly radio and Podcast features we offer each week:

  • Thumbs-On Review: A review of the hottest title or the biggest stinker to be released that week.
  • Clickables: A weekly spotlight on new and fun casual games.
  • Parent's Pick: A tool for parents, we focus on a game that is not only safe for kids but might also have some educational value.

Every week, our hosts, Travis Box and Dave Carson (just call him Carson, like Sting or Cher) research write and voice our three features. Once recorded, the Evolution Gamer features are brought to life by our Executive Producer Michael Stein.

These features can be heard on radio stations across the country, such as KOMO 1000 News in Seattle, WA.

Along with these features our Web Master, Stan Orchard, has created this site to bring you even more Evolution Gamer.

Evolution of the Gamer

quarterQuarters - When I was young, that’s what set you apart as a gamer, quarters. Being baby-sat by a barrel jumping Italian plumber, or eating glowing dots being chased by colorful ghosts…that was the collective experience of my generation at a young age.

Over the years, we were able to move the video games into our own homes, getting a minor rush from the visceral Ker-Thunk as you slammed a cartridge into your favorite system. Some prayed at the altar of Atari, and then Nintendo and Sega came along and converted the masses. Sony took gaming to new heights and Microsoft let us play live with the world from the confines of our couch.

The PC also had a major role in developing this emerging Nation of Gamers, whether you are addicted to a Never-Ending Quest or you just need a red Jack to put on that black queen, you too have joined the melting pot of gamers.

It’s evolution, the gradual transformation from one thing into something better. We're better for our gaming, we're smarter, more intuitive, competitive. We accept challenge and learn that losing's nothing more than an opportunity to try again and win.

We're not just 16 year old, pasty skinned geek-boys (OK, maybe Carson is…LOL). What we are is a group 100,000,000 strong in the U.S. alone. Spanning age, gender and ethnicity. We're as much the 31-year-old paralegal as we are the 42-year-old concrete worker and the 19-year-old college student. Our numbers grow stronger everyday. We have become something better for having played a game.

There's no shame in proclaiming to the world that you are a gamer!
